Living Streets
Description:
The Living Streets project located in the suburb of Renown Park, Adelaide responds to the surrounding Kaurna area known as Mikawomma (Open Plains) by a series of art installations themed around rest, food gathering and navigation. Mikawomma is a tract of land between Tarntanya (Adelaide CBD area) and Yartapuulti (Port Adelaide/Port River area) and was a great area for hunting and gathering for Kaurna people.
The objective of the art installations are to: Recognise Kaurna Country through cultural storytelling, education opportunities, and culturally safe spaces and practices by: Showcasing Kaurna native plants and their uses, Telling a story across the project site to increase community awareness and understanding of Kaurna Country and culture.
